Nothing Else Matters

1.2K views

i watched the shadow
slowly engulfing my happiness
part of me wanted to go away
while the other part wanted to stay and put up a brave fight

a fight that will either leave me dead
or a fight that will allow me to live
i cannot run forever
i cannot hide it forever

when i look into the eyes
i can see a love restrained
a desire to live
a desire….

something had been taken from deep inside
the secret that i once kept locked from all is now out in the open
sometimes i remember the darkness from the past
wishing for it to disappear
only to reappear again and again

only if i had the powers
i would take back the pain
only if i had the powers
i would retrace all the wrong moves

now frozen here in shock
i could only watch with helplessness
something in my heart telling me its time
to face the shadow and leave it all behind
leave the past behind

my happiness is right within my grasp
and i am still stuck in the past
a past that i cannot change anymore

slowly, my fears subside
while the shadows still linger
i know the happiness is still within my reach
so, never mind the darkness
still can find a way
cos nothing lasts forever

———

alternate ending

slowly, my fears subside
while the shadows still linger
i know the happiness is still within my reach
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
And nothing else matters
